This endowment is named in memory of Alex Bartlett (Lock Haven 2017), who lost his battle with testicular cancer on June 30, 2020. Once the fund reaches the $25,000 goal, it will be used to provide an annual $500 scholarship to a Central Mountain High School senior, as well as an annual $500 wellness grant to educate one college campus each year on the early signs of testicular cancer and the importance of monthly self-exams. The Fund was started with major contributions by Alex’s fraternity Brothers and close friends and with the full support and collaboration of Alex’s family.

“Alex was able to impact and help out so many people during his undergraduate years in the Fraternity,” said Brent Juster, Lock Haven fraternity Brother and one of the men who initiated the fund. “We hope to continue his name and help others grow and develop with the endowment.”

Landon Allen, Lock Haven Class of 2017 and primary benefactor of the fund, stated, “[It] was created to continue Alex's passions and empower those in education, community involvement, and wellness. Alex liked giving back to his community and helping fellow students. He had a passion for continuing to better himself through education and wellness. This opportunity allows us to continue his dream and legacy.”

The Alexander C. Bartlett “Well” Endowment will be managed by the Alpha Chi Rho Educational Foundation,

“This is a great example of young fraternity men positivelyimpacting their local community while remembering thosewhose strength and positive attitude were inspiring to many, said Gary DelPiano, President of the Alpha Chi Rho Educational Foundation. This is a unique fund because it not only provides annual scholarships, it challenges and inspires young college men in Alpha Chi Rho to educate their peers on men’s health issues through Alex’s story.”

DelPiano also announced the Fund will continue to accept donations with the hope of impacting more college and college bound students. The first scholarship and wellness grant are expected to be awarded in 2022

A review of the criteria for the scholarships and grant is listed in an addendum to the Fund. For more information on Alex’s story, go to his blogpost on A Ballsy Sense of Humor.
